I am beginning to realise a depth to the Daily Ritual I had not seen before. Its structure resembles the act of creation and proto-creation. The Sh’ma acknowledges the unity of G-d, which is the only reality. The Four Quarters sets a boundary within which activity can take place – in this way it is akin to the process of Tzimtzum, a space being created within the Unity. The Kabbalistic Tree is the Line entering the space formed by the action of Tzimtzum. It is this Line which brings governmental order into the creation of the spiritual and physical realms.
